The Consumer Price Index for June Quarter 2019 showed increases with major changes in Transport, Recreation and Restaurants & Hotels. The June Quarter CPI also showed a decrease in the Communication Group.

The Headline CPI increased showing 0.8 percent from March quarter 2019 to June quarter 2019. The Headline CPI also shows annual change of 4 percent from June quarter 2018 to June quarter 2019.

Main contributors

• Transport Group (+2.5%)
  The main contributor to the rise in Transport Group index this quarter was the Motor Vehicle Registration Fees (+32%)

• Restaurants and Hotels Group (+1.7%)
  The main contributor to the rise in Restaurants and Hotels group index this quarter was the prices of Hotel Accommodations (+3.7%).
• Communication (-3.0%)
  The main contributor to the decrease in the Communication Group index this quarter was the Internet rates (- 40%)
