The headline CPI showed an increase of 2.4 percent from December quarter 2024 to March quarter 2025.

The headline CPI also showed an increase of 5.3 percent from March quarter 2024 to March quarter 2025.

Major contributors to the change in March Quarter 2025

The major contributors to the increase in March Quarter 2025 are

Alcoholic Beverages, Betel Nut & Tobacco Group, Food & NonAlcoholic Beverages Group, Transport Group and Clothing & Footwear Group.

    1. Alcoholic Beverages, Betel Nut & Tobacco Group

The Alcoholic Beverages, Betel Nut & Tobacco Group increased by 8.4 percent in this quarter mainly due to the increases in Betel Nut & Mustard (+ 1 4. 1%) and Alcoholic Beverages (+3.2%).

    1. Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages Group

The Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages Group increased by 1 .6 percent in this quarter mainly due to the increases Cereals (+2.2%), Fruits & Vegetables (+ 1.3%) and Meat (+ 1.0%).

    1. Transport Group

The Transport Group increased by 1.2 percent in this quarter mainly due to rise in Fares (+ 1 .2%), Transport Operations (+2.6%) and Fuels & Lubricants (+3.8%).

    1. Clothing & Footwear Group

The Clothing & Footwear Group increases by 2.9 percent in this quarter mainly due to rise in Women and Girls Wear (+4.3%).
