The major contributors to the September Quarter 2019 increase were Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betelnut, HealthGroups and decreases in Housing and Transport Groupsrespectively.

Facts

The All Groups CPI increased showing 0.7 percent from June quarter 2019 to September quarter 2019.

The All Groups CPI also shows annual change of 3.3 percent from September quarter 2018 to September quarter 2019.

Main contributors

• Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betelnut (+2.9%)
  The main contributor to the rise in the Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Betelnut Group index this quarter was mainly due to the increase in Tobacco Prices (+5.1%)
• Health (+1.3%)
  The main contributor to the rise in the Health group index this quarter was the increase in the prices of Medical Supplies (+1.7%).
• Housing (-0.1%)
  The main contributor to the fall in the Housing group index this quarter was the prices of Cooking items (-2.4%).
